OFF-LEASH PARKS Once again, we are biased, since the owner of this website is also the owner of Paw Run. We consider Paw Run to be the park for advanced dog owners. It is a little further away, it costs more money and has more restrictions.....but, there are seventeen acres of fields and paths, a pond designed for swimming dogs and a fully competition level agility yard. Visit our website at www.pawrun.com
The first municipal dog park established by the City of Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County, it is located on the corner of Platt and Ellsworth in South-East Ann Arbor. The ten acre park is separated into a large dog area and a small dog area. To use Swift Run or any Ann Arbor/Washtenaw County dog park you will need to get a permit from either the City of Ann Arbor's City Clerk's Office or the Washtenaw County's Treasurer's Office.
Mill Pond Dog Park was the first dedicated off leash park in Washtenaw County. It is one acre along the Saline River in Mill Pond Park. The park is fenced on three sides with the river forming the fourth side. There is no fee to use this park.
The dog park at Copper Leaf Crossing is at the intersection of Ann Arbor-Saline Road and Pleasant Lake Road between Ann Arbor and Saline. This dog park is approximately one acre and free to use.
Leash-Only Parks Washtenaw County has hundreds (possibly thousands) of acres of park and recreation land and most of them are open to dogs on leash. The only real exception is the Matthaei Botanical Gardens which does not allow dogs. Some of my favorite parks to walk dogs are: The Pinckney-Waterloo Recreation Area Please send me information on your favorite walking places to carolyn@annarbordog.com. |
